First Emma Thompson Oasis Wallpaper Challenge: CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES
This First Emma Thompson Oasis Wallpaper Challenge (“Contest”) is run by your friendly webmisstress (“Sponsor”), Samantha Cabrera-Díaz. Participation in the Contest constitutes contestant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules. The Contest is open from now on and it ends at 11:59 P.M. GMT 0 (London Time) on December 15th, 2004.
Eligibility. The Contest is open to anyone anywhere in the world who can send an email to sammyland@yahoo.com. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
How to Enter. Contestants must submit their name, email address and country of residence, enclosing their wallpaper image, to sammyland@yahoo.com. All entries must conform to the following requirements:
- Images must be in JPEG (.jpg) format;
- Images must be sized no smaller than 800 width x 600 height (in pixels), and no larger than 1600(w) x 1200(h);
- Images must not be more than 100 ppi (pixels per inch) in resolution;
- Images must not be greater than 800 Kilobytes (800 K) in size; and
- Images must use at least one Emma Thompson photo or artistic drawing of her in it.
Entries must be received by email at 11:59 P.M. GMT 0 (UK London Time) on December 15th, 2004. Contestant must be the sole author an entry, but he-she can submit multiple entries (although only one entry will be awarded the prize). By entering a submission, contestant grants Sponsor a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable right to use, reproduce, distribute and publicly and digitally display in the Sponsor's website said images and make them available for free downloading to the website's visitors, without compensation to the provider of the entry or any other party. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry which is, in Sponsor's sole discretion, inappropriate, offensive, or demeaning to Sponsor's reputation or goodwill. Sponsor further reserves the right to deny any entry based on non-compliance with criteria listed here or other criteria such as cheating, incomplete application information, etc. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or unintelligible entries. Incomplete or illegible entries, or entries which do not conform to the above specifications, are not eligible.
Winner Selection. The sponsor and the sponsor alone will choose from all valid entries only one winning artwork, in her sole discretion.. All valid entries will be posted on at Emma Thompson Oasis on December 16th, 2004, where the winner will be announced and also notified by email. If a prize is returned as undeliverable, prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner will be awarded. There won't be any ties.
Prizes. A first prize will be awarded and posted to the contestant who, according to the sponsor, presented the best original artwork wallpaper.
- The first and only prize will be the film "Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban" (2004) in either VHS or DVD format (the contestant will be able to choose their prefered format).
- The Sponsor might also choose to grant one or more honourable mentions to any finalist/s.
- The winning contestant will have to provide the sponsor with his/her snail address and the sponsor will send said prize via a well respected on-line retailer that ships worldwide. Prizes will not be delivered to P.O. Boxes.
- Winner and finalists will be given a banner to display in their own websites (if any) recording their achievement.
No alternative prize, cash equivalent, or other substitution is permitted except by Sponsor in the event of prize unavailability. Prize is nontransferable. All federal, national, provincial, state and/or local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winners. All prizes are awarded “AS IS” and without warranty of any kind, express or implied, except as provided by the manufacturer.
General Terms and Conditions. By participating, contestants agree that Sponso is not responsible or liable for, and shall be released and held harmless from: (i) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind; (ii) any condition caused by events beyond the control of Sponsor that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (iii) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest; (iv) any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with or resulting from participation in the Contest, acceptance, possession, or use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend or cancel Contest at any time if a computer virus, bug, or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper conduct of the Contest. Participation in this Contest constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use winner's name, hometown (including state or province) and/or likeness for promotional purposes without further compensation. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of participant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with United Kingdom Laws, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether of the United Kingdom or any other jurisdiction), that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the United Kingdom. Any claim arising out of the foregoing shall be instituted solely in a court situated in London, United Kingdom, and contestant and Sponsor irrevocably agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of such court.
